about

The Middle Ages: A Project from Dominic Moore and Friends
At my age and with the number of people who listen to my music, I sometimes wonder what it is I’m trying to accomplish by making an album. At this point, music is part of my weather cycle. I get dry of ideas and then there is a rainstorm. I soak up whatever I can before the next drought. This follows until I have enough to make them into something. Over the years I’ve recorded in studios, bedrooms, classrooms, through the mail, over the internet and other places in between.
As I enter my own Middle Ages, I dreamed of making a new album with all my friends, family, and bandmates during a party at June Audio. Then there was a pandemic. After monitoring public health
recommendations and best practices, I talked to my friends about what they would be comfortable
with. The guest list was narrowed to a bare minimum. We held zero practices and one brief Zoom meeting. And then we took a leap and pressed record. It was a magical day. In 10 hours we completed the 11 songs you hear. My kids came in on a separate day to add their voices. I held my breath for 2 weeks, hoping everyone would stay healthy. Thankfully they did.

This album is a reflection of the life I’ve been able to live, love I don’t deserve and yet still receive, good works of others, grace and the potential for change, art I have loved, complexity that we make simple, death, eternity, and the gratitude I feel for the people in my life. I’ve never been happier with an album and I’ve never been more aware that making music is a privilege. I hope you enjoy and share it with the ones you love.
